DISCO IN SPACE

DISCO. Loved by many. Hated by millions.

It’s the criminal gay cousin any righteous family likes to keep locked up in its room.

DISCO thrives on a steady diet of extravagant clothing, booty shaking, drugtaking and raunchy sex. It doesn’t need to eat nor sleep. It can’t be helped. It’s in its genes. Loud, brash and excentric, DISCO provides a hedonistic soundtrack to substance-fueled mayhem.

DISCO, however, is also a style of music rarely recognized for its thoughtful musicianship. A child of many musical parents – hard rock, deep funk, latin music, gospel and synthesized pop – DISCO is an extremely eclectic beast. And beyond the plastic polish of ABBA and Boney M, there is an abundance of excellent dance tunes just waiting to be excavated.

Dance music makers have been re-discovering and re-visiting these gems since the early 1980s. From Chicago legend Frankie Knuckles to the current New York hipster label DFA, from Daft Punk to Munich’s Permanent Vacation, DISCO never died. It just changed its make-up.

And no matter how minimal the musical trend may be, the good old DISCO groove monster will still bring out the drama queen in every dancer!

THE DISCOROCKER SOUNDSYSTEM is on a mission to spread the gospel of GOOD DISCO MUSIC. With one foot in the past and the other in the present, our musical spectrum includes House Music, Electro Boogie, Soul, Funk and Electro Pop.

There are only two rules for songs we play:

They have to be groovy.

And the have to make you DANCE!
